Phenomenal Customer Service

I had an issue with my DetourI contacted Outbound and within minutes I had a return label. I sent it out and a few days later I had it back working perfectly. The surprise was the dummies bears and a cool sticker. You can’t go wrong with Outbound!!!!

Hassle free riding

The Detour lights are strong enough that we can see potholes, debris and other dangers well before they are a problem, without blinding oncoming bikers, hikers and cars. With other (off road) lights I had to dim my lights every time somebody came towards me. The build quality is nice and promises to last many years even with frequent use.

Two Years in, No Complaints

I absolutely love this light. It took me a long time to commit given the cost, but it's been over two years now and I'm glad I did. The run-time is great for fat-biking during the long winter nights here in Northern Minnesota, and the pass-through charging is a game-changer for bike packing trips. Handles cold, handles torrential rain & mud, and the mount is rock solid on washboard roads. The cut-off beam is nice for commuting, and still throws more than enough light down the road and ATV trails for the riding that I do.

best bike light ever!

I've used many different bike lights over the years - the Detour is by far the best! The fact that the light cuts off so it doesn't blind people who are coming toward you is next level. The only thing I would change is that it would be great if the power/ mode switch button lighted up even just a little bit so it would be easier to find when needing to make a mode switch while riding.

Detour Bike Light

Bought a Detour, liked it so ordered another for my other bike. Second was defective. Outbound trans shipped a replacement with prepaid return label. Replacement works perfectly. Trail or road: nothing better.

Great, not perfect

Things I love
* The thoughtfully engineered beam with great coverage and cutoff
* Battery life, lasts me about 4.5 days of commuting (1 hour per day ish)
* Getting it into and out of the mount is super quick and easy
* USB-C charging

Things I don't love
* Doesn't remember what I had it set on when I turn it off/on.

Other notes
I didn't realize that my handlebar width was not one it came with a mounting adapter for. I ended up shimming it with cut up inner tube from a recent flat change and it's been super stable. If you're experiencing the light riding down see if you can squeeze a piece of rubber into the mounting ring to make it non-slip.

Hey Nate, a couple things we can help address here. First: shims. We include a 35mm clamp with a 31.8mm shim because that covers basically every bike sold today, and we didn't want to make everything more expensive by including more plastic shims for smaller bars that would end up in the garbage anyways for 99% of customers, so we have 25.4mm and 22.2mm shims available on the website, I would much rather just send you the shim you need than you have to cobble together a shim, as slipping should not be an issue at all with the right parts, I'll follow up via email and figure out what size you need for your specific bike.

As for the UI, we chose to not make the lights remember the last used mode on purpose, as most customers didn't remember what the last used mode was, and it created more confusion for the larger part of the audience, thus we had it come in Adaptive everytime as that was the mode that felt brightest for longest for 'typical' customer rides. Not saying Mode Memory is a bad idea at all, we just didn't want to make everything more complex with programmability to create more confusion with folks, at least not until we have a few other pieces in place to make that process much smoother for all. Stay tuned for more customization like this in the future.

Automotive headlights
For your bike

Bringing our automotive lighting experience to provide a clean cut-off beam pattern that evenly illuminates the road ahead. You wouldn't use a flashlight for your car, why use it for your bike?

Optical Engineering

This is the game changer. Not only did we bring the automotive grade cutoff beam pattern to your handlebars, we took it a step further by precisely controlling how much light leaves the light and hits the ground from the front of your tire all the way up to where you are looking. When you read "it's like riding in daylight" this is why.

We are the only USA-based manufacturer of cutoff (also referred to as StVZO) beam pattern bike lights, we also made sure the light has unreal width to light up the ditches and keep the spooky things away.

Detour was designed with your ride in mind. Long runtime, easy mounting, broad panoramic beam, fast USB-C charging, and all backed by industry leading customer service.

Rock Solid Mounting

A good light isn’t so good if
it’s bouncing up and down on the bars all the time. That’s why we made a bolt-on clamp mount for Detour so it’s solidly locked to the bar, With a simple shim it adapts from 35mm to 31.8mm handlebars (25.4 and 22mm shims available) and the beam won’t shake around like lights with rubber strap mounts do.

Keep Life Simple

Few people read instruction manuals, even fewer want to, we keep our lights dead simple so that you don’t need an advanced degree to remember some complicated sequence of button presses to get to the mode you want.

USB-C pass-Thru Charging

We were one of the first to offer USB-C charging as standard, except we took it a step further by offering pass-through charging as well. This lets you plug in any USB power bank and charge the light while in use,
in any mode. Game changer for 24 hour races and extra long night rides!

Keeping Cool

When you pick up this light you might be surprised to not feel any metal. Plastic?! Must be something we used to be cheap isn't it? Far from it. This material we use is an incredibly cool (ha) engineered resin that is not only very durable, but also conducts heat. The result is a lightweight, durable, and thermally balanced light housing.

Make your Night ride enjoyable.

It can be sketchy riding at night when you are used to narrow beam patterns better suited for walking in the backyard. Our incredible optical engineering makes riding at night a joy again.
