Good light, wish it came with alternative mounting options

The light is bright and has a nice beam pattern. The button is easy to press and the simple battery indicator is functional and easy to see. The passthrough charging is definitely a plus for me for bike packing.
Unfortunately, the mount it comes with doesn't fit a lot of road bike handlebars as they are not round. I wish I didn't have to pay another 20$ for a piece of plastic in order to mount it to my bike. I'm not sure what the best solution would be, but my hangover light came with different mounts for different helmets. Maybe an option to select the mount type when you order it?

Great Warranty

I didn’t use my detour for about a year. It would not charge. I sent it in and was sent what appeared to be a new one. They paid the postage both ways

Very nice

Love the bracket - the form factor is good but not great. Would prefer rounded edges with a flush mounted "hood" and no or more subtle branding. Taped the orange logo over. The light does what it should - would like the beam to be a little cleaner - lots of detail in the pattern instead of a clean spread. Overall very good. Love the pass through.

5 Star Light, but not perfect

the good:
- the light beam pattern is great - there are small streaks of dark in the beam pattern but I don't view that as an issue
- it lights up the right areas
the "bad": (these are comparative nitpicks)
- the white of the power button is already wearing off after two rides
- mount is tighter than expected
- light is "dim" compared to other bright bike spot lights - because the area this isn't really an issue but having be a bit brighter would be nice
and a feature request:
- having this connect up to a bike computer via ant+ would be great assuming that's not super expensive/proprietary added cost. especially if I undersling it on a mount out front I feel like that would just make the ergonomics nicer

overall, great light with no real issues but also expensive enough that it warrants critique for not being perfect

Best light I’ve used

I’ve been a daily bike commuter for >10 years and I regularly go on long rides (gravel and road) on weekends. I’ve used multiple combinations of various lights over the years, most recently switching between a Niterider and Cygolite. Each has its pros (bright, multiple modes, lightweight) and cons (poor mounting, heavy, blinding to on coming traffic). I have been using the Detour light mounted with the action camera mount for the past 3 weeks. It has been great so far and combines the pros of my other lights without so much of the cons. The mount is solid, the quick release is secure. Some reviews have dinged it for being more finicky than expected but I have found it to be no more so than my other lights, just different. It has tight tolerance so there’s no disconcerting rattle. The cutoff beam works well. Again some feel disappointed that it is not as sharp as they expected but in my opinion it does the job well. To me the cutoff doesn’t have to look like a clear laser cut line on a wall; it works as intended. I also like the wide beam pattern (better than my lights or those of other commuters I see). I really appreciate the thoughtful day and night commuter patterns. I highly recommend.

Automotive headlights
For your bike

Bringing our automotive lighting experience to provide a clean cut-off beam pattern that evenly illuminates the road ahead. You wouldn't use a flashlight for your car, why use it for your bike?

Optical Engineering

This is the game changer. Not only did we bring the automotive grade cutoff beam pattern to your handlebars, we took it a step further by precisely controlling how much light leaves the light and hits the ground from the front of your tire all the way up to where you are looking. When you read "it's like riding in daylight" this is why.

We are the only USA-based manufacturer of cutoff (also referred to as StVZO) beam pattern bike lights, we also made sure the light has unreal width to light up the ditches and keep the spooky things away.

Detour was designed with your ride in mind. Long runtime, easy mounting, broad panoramic beam, fast USB-C charging, and all backed by industry leading customer service.

Rock Solid Mounting

A good light isn’t so good if
it’s bouncing up and down on the bars all the time. That’s why we made a bolt-on clamp mount for Detour so it’s solidly locked to the bar, With a simple shim it adapts from 35mm to 31.8mm handlebars (25.4 and 22mm shims available) and the beam won’t shake around like lights with rubber strap mounts do.

Keep Life Simple

Few people read instruction manuals, even fewer want to, we keep our lights dead simple so that you don’t need an advanced degree to remember some complicated sequence of button presses to get to the mode you want.

USB-C pass-Thru Charging

We were one of the first to offer USB-C charging as standard, except we took it a step further by offering pass-through charging as well. This lets you plug in any USB power bank and charge the light while in use,
in any mode. Game changer for 24 hour races and extra long night rides!

Keeping Cool

When you pick up this light you might be surprised to not feel any metal. Plastic?! Must be something we used to be cheap isn't it? Far from it. This material we use is an incredibly cool (ha) engineered resin that is not only very durable, but also conducts heat. The result is a lightweight, durable, and thermally balanced light housing.

Make your Night ride enjoyable.

It can be sketchy riding at night when you are used to narrow beam patterns better suited for walking in the backyard. Our incredible optical engineering makes riding at night a joy again.
