So many of you wanted to be able to mount our lights underneath your bike computers that we created this nifty little adapter. All the guts of our Quick Release Handlebar Mount that comes with Detour and Evo, but to work with an Action Camera mount.
This works with our Detour light the best.
This can work upside down or right side up, there is no wrong way, the light will always be positioned correctly.
Love the light but a bit miffed OB doesn't just include the gopro adapter for it in the bundle. Other than that it's a great piece of gear!
They main reason we don't include the GoPro adapter is that a very, very small percentage of customers for Evo actually have a GoPro style mount setup on their bikes, which means we'd be making every light sold more expensive just to throw away that mount for the overwhelming majority of them. Everyone has handlebars, so the stock 35mm mount includes a 31.8mm shim to cover 99% of current bikes sold today. Basically trying to reduce waste and cost for as many people as possible, but totally understand that your application likely just needed the GoPro mount, and not the standard bar mount, so I just went ahead and refunded the Action Camera mount for you, since you would have just chosen that if you had the option.
Paying an extra 20$ to be able use my 200$ light on commonplace road bars is a bit ridiculous.
I understand the frustration. The main reason we choose not to include one of every possible type of mount with every light is that customers end up just using one, so by including multiple different types we essentially have to pay more, making every light more expensive, while also sending at least one mount to the landfill most of the time. Since all bikes have handlebars, but not all bikes have outfront GPS mounts with action camera mounts underneath, we chose to include the standard bar mount with all. as we get more requests for this, we should probably make an option on the product page to choose which mount you need based on your specific setup, which creates a split in the packaging line internally, but would probably have eliminated this complaint. We'll get on this.
This light is perfect for my e-bike. My e-bike has a head light but is simply not bright enough. My Outbound Lighting light gives me a lot more light for night riding. In fact, I don't even turn on my e-bike head light to conserve battery power.
I’ve set PR’s in total darkness on local trails I ride often with these lights! Would buy again in a heartbeat
I LOVE the lights. The action camera mount, not so much. I’m two for two on integrated handlebar bikes where this mount doesn’t work; Trek Madone and Factor Ostro VAM. The issue is that this mount doesn’t provide enough depth from where it connects to the bike. The outbound proprietary mount sits behind the Detour light (as opposed to above it with other lights) and that means the light doesn’t have enough clearance to sit correctly under the computer above it, it essentially points at the ground because the outbound mount can’t clear the integrated systems these two bikes use. BUT I do love the lights, have every light you guys make! Just unable to use on my road bikes.
Ah, so this is when using the Trek Blendr dual-mount, that has two GoPro-compatible mounts where you can put a GPS on top and light on the bottom, correct? That Blendr mount spacing is pretty tight, we tried to make our adapter fit the widest range of mounting applications with one offset, and there are a couple that need a bit more vertical offset due to other things competing for the same space. We'll have such an adapter here in the future with different offset to help with this!
