Great Light

Love this light! Used it for an overnight ski mountaineering race and it's perfect for a long (8 hours) in the dark with variable light settings. Plus the mounting is simple and works across multiple helmets

Basically the Sun on My Forehead

This headlamp is insanely bright—I turned it on and accidentally signaled a plane. When coupled with the Evo light - this is your setup for that 5:00am mtb ride into the unsanctioned single track abyss. Or... you can use it during power outages, I guess. The light is surprisingly light, with solid duration as long as you avoid the highest setting.

Downside? My neighbors think I’m running a search-and-rescue team. 10/10, would blind myself again.

Awesome Light!

This light is fantastic! I got this light because I came up with the idea to ride my bike in the early morning hours while it was still dark. I was encountering too many obstacles, such as dog walkers on the road using retractable leashes. So the dog owners are on one side of the road and the dog on the other with the leash stretched across the road. There has been an increase as well in joggers, walkers without dogs walking 3 wide, gardeners and contractors trucks, etc. I’m now riding early while it is still dark and this light is perfect! It’s insanely bright and gives me all the light that I need. I can see a very good distance in front of me and also when I glance right or left. I now have the road all to myself and it’s great. The light was easy to mount and easy to charge! I don’t find the light to feel heavy on top of my helmet either. I’m so glad that I found Outbound Lighting!!

Awesome

Not sure why I waited so long to purchase this light. I've zero complaints about this light, it made night riding even better!

Very happy with Hangover, so got one for my motorcycle

I’ve had Hangover light for a while. It provides an amazing amount of illumination for early morning bike rides, when it’s still dark. I also have 2 motorcycles, and I’m on a constant mission to add safety margin where I can, including making sure I’m very visible to other vehicles. A family member of mine had a serious accident because someone turned left in front of him. They said they didn’t see him. Anyway, I tried the Portal first, and it was plenty bright, but I decided to go all out and order Trail Evo. I think it’ll be GREAT. Pictures included show my new Honda Dax 125 with Trail Evo on Medium (which means I’ll have 4.2 hours runtime!) and then Portal on High. The larger size of the Trail Evo makes it that much more eye catching, and in the unlikely event I ride after dark, I’m confident the Trail Evo will provide WAY more illumination than the Dax’s headlight. Since I’m going with the Trail Evo, I’ve already initiated return of the Portal light, and Outbound lighting was great to work with on that return.

Like its companion Trailhead Evo light, the Portal helmet light is bright, easy to mount and use, attractive, and durable. It can also be used as a very competent handlebar light with the optional handlebar mount kit. Highly recommended.

Bigger 21700 battery!

In order to hit the same runtime as Trail Evo, and have higher peak brightness than Hangover we shoved a 5,000 mAH genuine Samsung 50E 21700 battery cell and wrapped the light around it.

This results in 43% more capacity over our Hangover light, meaning far longer runtimes (up to 2.5 hours on adaptive, a 50% increase over Hangover).

Even brighter!

While more lumens isn't always the answer, we added in some more brightness and increased the beam pattern width over Hangover to provide even more punch down the trail.

New finely tuned optics with 30% larger TIR cones means higher optical efficiency and more peripheral light to help spot the spooky stuff.

Simple User Interface

Few people read instruction manuals, even fewer want to, so we keep our lights dead simple so that you don’t need an advanced degree to remember some complicated button presses get to the mode you want.

Portal’s soft-touch overmolded top shell has a single, large button right in the middle that’s easy to feel through a thick winter glove in the dark, so you don’t have to hunt blindly around on top of your head just to turn it on.
